Common questions

Frequently asked.

How do I upload my horse's coggins certificate?
Go to Profile → select your horse → tap "Coggins certificate" → tap Upload. You can photograph your paper certificate directly with your phone camera — no scanner needed. We accept JPG, PNG, and PDF formats. The document will be stored securely and you'll receive an expiration reminder 60, 30, and 7 days before it expires.
What states require a brand inspection certificate?
Seventeen western states currently require a brand inspection certificate when transporting horses, including Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Arizona requires inspection only for branded horses. HorseCamp will flag which states on your planned route require a certificate and whether your current cert covers those states. Tap "State rules" on any horse's record to see the full breakdown.
How does the QR check-in packet work?
Open HorseCamp → Check-In to generate a QR/link packet for the horses you choose. The packet shows horse and document summary fields such as document type, certificate number, veterinarian, expiration status, and generated time. Original document files stay on your iPhone unless you separately choose to share them.
Is HorseCamp free to use?
Yes. The current iPhone app does not require a HorseCamp account or in-app subscription. You can browse camps, save horse information on your device, plan trips, and use check-in sharing features included in the app.
How do I filter camps by my rig length?
Set up your rig once during onboarding or in Profile. Enter your trailer type, total rig length including truck, and preferred electrical hookup. Camp listings may include maximum rig length and hookup notes when the source provides them. Always verify final fit and availability directly with the campground before hauling.
How do I list my camp, vet practice, or farrier business?
Email support@horsecampfinder.com with your business name, location, website, phone number, and the horse-specific services you offer. We review submitted corrections and listing requests manually so riders see accurate information.
How do I report incorrect camp information?
Email support@horsecampfinder.com with the camp name, state, and the correction you want us to review. Useful details include hookup changes, closed stalls, wrong seasonal dates, bad links, or places that no longer allow horses.
Do I need to create an account?
No. HorseCamp does not have user accounts in the current iPhone app. Your rig, horse, document, and trip information is stored locally on your device.
Is my horse's health data secure?
Yes — by design, original horse health document files stay in your iPhone's private app sandbox using iOS file protection. HorseCamp does not run an account database for your records. If you create a check-in QR/link, the share page can include document summary fields you choose to share, such as document type, certificate number, veterinarian, and expiration status; the original files are not uploaded by that QR/link.
