Common questions

Frequently asked.

How do I upload my horse's coggins certificate?
Go to Profile → select your horse → tap "Coggins certificate" → tap Upload. You can photograph your paper certificate directly with your phone camera — no scanner needed. We accept JPG, PNG, and PDF formats. The document will be stored securely and you'll receive an expiration reminder 60, 30, and 7 days before it expires.
What states require a brand inspection certificate?
Seventeen western states currently require a brand inspection certificate when transporting horses, including Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Arizona requires inspection only for branded horses. HorseCamp will flag which states on your planned route require a certificate and whether your current cert covers those states. Tap "State rules" on any horse's record to see the full breakdown.
How does the QR check-in packet work?
When you arrive at a camp, open HorseCamp → go to your upcoming reservation → tap "Check-in packet." This generates a QR code that camp staff can scan to instantly view all your horses' coggins, health certificates, and brand inspection documents — no paper binders needed. You can also share the packet link via email or text. Documents are shared read-only and the link expires after your stay ends.
Can I use HorseCamp without a subscription?
Yes — you can search for camps, view listings, and browse the map for free. A $4.99/month (billed as $5/month) Pro subscription unlocks trip planning, offline maps, horse health record storage, coggins expiration reminders, the QR check-in packet, and wildfire/weather alerts along your route. The subscription is billed through your Apple ID or Google Play account and can be cancelled anytime.
How do I filter camps by my rig length?
Set up your rig once in Profile → My Rig. Enter your trailer type (bumper pull, gooseneck, or living quarters) and your total rig length including truck. From then on, every camp search automatically filters to sites that can accommodate your rig. You can also adjust rig length temporarily in the filter panel on the search and map screens without changing your profile — useful if you're comparing sites for a different setup.
How do I list my camp, vet practice, or farrier business?
Listings for equestrian camps, large animal vets, and farriers are $5/month. Email us at [email protected] with your business name, location, and contact information and we'll set up your verified listing. Camp listings include a verified badge, photo gallery, seasonal calendar control, and priority placement in search results. Vet and farrier listings include your service area, specialties, and a direct contact button for riders.
How do I report incorrect camp information?
On any camp listing, tap the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top right and select "Report an issue." You can flag incorrect hookup information, closed stalls, wrong seasonal dates, or any other inaccuracy. Our team reviews all reports within 48 hours. You can also leave a detailed review after your stay — notes like "30A pedestal on sites 4–6 is not working" help the whole community.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → HorseCamp → Cancel. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. We don't offer refunds for partial months, but you're never charged twice and there are no cancellation fees.
Is my horse's health data secure?
Yes — and by design, your horse health documents never leave your device at all. When you upload a coggins certificate or health cert, it is stored in your iPhone's private app sandbox using iOS file protection encryption. Nothing is transmitted to HorseCamp's servers. We have zero access to your documents. You can delete any document from within the app at any time, and all documents are permanently removed if you uninstall the app. This is intentional — we believe sensitive veterinary records should stay in your hands, not ours.
